Deliverance in words and pictures

Happy New Year and bravo to all your family. Say hi to Elsa and the whole from David & Catherine.

Since last year you have been a great family friend unto us and may our heavenly father double your loving spirit and reward you twice. Everything here is ok and none is sick better good health than money.

wheelchairA lot God has done for us up to date i.e. Baby Wambui’s wheel chair sited and now back to school, certificate of our centre in community based organization with various definitions, clearance of Oksa Micro loan is now through and still waiting for more from our creator. Sorry for your illness, hoping you have recovered, no more stress at this winter.

For solar lamps not yet gone in whole but still in the process of supply and still pay in installments.

Taken care of all this, now that we have just resumed  from December holidays we have great ideas and no more stress. Future plan in our minds combined. May this be of not our interest but for our vision.

Gerald and Andrew now back to their institution for further studies, purity and charity promoted to upper levels. Women group preparation for next season at land?

Following text is written by me, Pappa Hans:

Thank you parents for your teaching values for life you have payed things forward. Through the vision for a PA and trusting in Mai Ini through the microloan of 1100 SEK, a “pole for fishing” is provided, as you yourrself put it a year ago.

Thank you Mai Ini women for your example on deeds and work.

Noone can do it all, but all can do something.

The children of La Unica will one day know what you have done more clearly and pay it forward.

The last picture reminds us of the value of electricity. The building of dams for electricity is important, but even more is to find oneself supporting ones familiy.

The UBUNTU fund, being established by Östermalmskyrkan in Kristianstad, Sweden is a reminder that the work moves on. True sustainable development.

Combining families in whole sale buying of Solarlamps, reducing Kerosene use through microcredit. Update to follow before Christmas

Students in Halmstad paying forward

Students at Sannarpsgymnasiet have completed several projects in behalf of others. The principle of paying forward works and is fun to use. PA towards education devolopment in Kenya, charity, feel good and lifting others. Jumble sales, discos and other projects have been a success. Below is a local Halmstad project, paying forward a piece of art in 3D.

Update after Christmas

 >Much to say from us. First is to thank our Heavenly Father for the care that he has towards all of us.
 >Here we are quite okay though lot of hot sun and dust.
The school is progressing very well and a lot of increment in population. Many have joined the centre and for us we have had a very busy period this and the past month. We’ve been visiting the neediest families to enable us to know the ones that need to be assisted. We are now having 228 families which are from the payer able ones we are able to assist the weak kids with stationeries and basic needs. And we are now able to provide all the kids with texts book.
 >Lets take this opportunity to say thanks too for making La’Unica have lot of changes. It’s with great pleasure that we acknowledge your hand on the centre…that which you gave Mr.Robert (12,500 Kes) and after discussing with the women, we decided that it were better to fix decent windows instead of the swing. They have stayed with no panes for long and the kids suffer cold.. Thus this solution.
 >We have attached Pictures showing the window frames and after being fixed…and the receipts of expenses. Only the glass panes are left.
 >I received your sms about the 94,000 Kes which will highly appreciate. The amount will help us to achieve some of the objectives like fencing, piping, re-painting, repairing of the chipped floor and probably fixing a gate and adding stationeries…but we must have a meeting with the group to decide on priorities…these are just but my opinions.
 >About the email of X, I think you understood that we aint had any reply from him. So I apologize for that.
 >>Last but not least, lets stay according to the Word of God so as after the good work we do here on earth, God will reward us with eternal life.
>>May God bless you very much Pappa Hans and your Family…Pass our regards to all.

from Sarah”

Sarahs life today

Hello Teacher Hans ,it has been quite a long time since I communicated to you, for sure i have missed you and may i take the chance to say happy new year to you and the rest of your family. I am glad about the support you are offering at launica and I do believe that through your efforts the destiny of these young kenyans can be faced with a lot of hope. How i wish that all the people on earth could have such a big heart for people. I really admire your generocity. May God shower you with blessings.
My family has also passed greetings to you and are really proud to be associted with you as one of our members. We still trying to make ends meet as you also do.  Actually this is the month that i am waiting to receive the university admission letter hoping that i will be considered for a good course. So once I get  it iwill scan it to you to show you all the requirements. Otherwise am still teaching at a certain school close to our home.
the other thing is that you say hello to Teacher Robert because it has been long since i talked to him and i appreciate his efforts in my life.

“Dedicated to Hans family and friends” David at La Unica

“I really find this man David and his wife Catherine to be true heroes…. They are the leaders of LA Unica, childcare centre, Lusigeti and are fighting for the education of 197 children… where 38 are orphans enroll for free.” Greetings Pappa HANS

photo1davidsfamilyLots of greetings from David and family.  Hope you are all right from the other side of the globe.

Us we are fine trying hard to make ends meet.

Happy because we receive your gift.  Pass our regards to all who made that effort.  Everyone is happy including our friends-congratulations God Bless you all.  Slow response though- but my father passed away this very month-already buried.  Sorry to say so.  This world is not our home.
Find the whole family in the photo, from right standing:- Andrew, Gerald, myself and Catherine.  Seated is the youngest baby then Purity and Charity.  Big family, you see:  However we received other presents later and we have done the staffroom-almost through-photo to be sent when complete.
May you have a nice time with all, continue with your togetherness and may God Double your loving Spirit.
 From: David and Family.”

My reply:

Hello my friend… (please print this so Catherine can read it as well) dont worry about the silence… life goes on here as well… luckily enough noone has died though…

I have taken the privilige of putting your nicely put letter on the blogg… people here are so far away of understanding even me is having a hard time understanding things… even though I have been visiting you…

I really love the names charity and Purity… what´s the babys name =)

Every day while I have been painting my house I have thought of Kenya and you. I really left a big portion of me in your country… I try and do my best to do what I can… Always fall short though… Every litre of paint…. It really bugs me… I will continue to encourage my students to have you at La Unica in mind during their schoolprojects… I have vowed to keep the bridge open.. and that I can do… I saw so much poverty in Kenya that it almost broke my heart… hope you will continue to send good pictures and never give up…. I will continue to ask and not give up… the best thing is if I could find a company that would take LA Unica under its arms (lets say 150 USD amonth) and get goodwill from it… having their logo next to yours… on a new painted school house… that is my vision for what I hope to be able to give you eventually…

God bless you both David and Catherine and all your great kids… Great the kids at LA Unica from me and give all the mothers in the women group…

Hugs from HANS

PS: I read the letter to my wife… My wife says that my vision might sound as a promise…. I know you understand the meaning of “vision”… You have drawn me a map of your vision of LA Unica and given it to me…. hoping that your vision one day will come true… so it is with my vision, knowing that it might not be, but we need to have a vision… … “without visions the people perish”… I need to exercise some faith in my vision as you have done in yours…

Spring 2009 – Student projects at Sannarp

The spring started real well fullfilling the years scholarship for Sara Ombati and Teresiah Kihuyu with PA Dress Kenya project (3700 SEK) and a teacher donation (500 SEK)

– On top of the goal of fundraising these two personal scholarships….

…Funds towards La Unica Child Care Centre this spring are 3780 SEK. Two groups of students at Sannarpsgymnasiet Halmstad did discos for kids in Östergård and Getinge (1000 & 2780)

…And clothing in the blue packages are sent today. The postage 371 SEK for each package of 5 kg is financed from selling second hand clothing and items given to “Pappa Hans” by PA students, Sannarpsgymnasiet and Friskis&Svettis Gym (people tend to forget some clothes after lifting weights…)

Im happy to be able to vouch with my good name that funds will reach intended hands and purpose. I salute all that has helped out this spring. Thank you all!  I invite all who wishes to contribute in some way or another… The needs are never ending. Remember: “Noone can do everything but all can do something…”

Hans Strandberg

CAS night a success in many ways…

la-unica-013Thank you IB students for a nonforgetable night! Also thank you parents for your presence and contributions!

The CAS night raised 739,50 SEK towards LA Unica. Thank you on behalf of the children at La Unica

This money provides 1 week of education for 197 students at this school. They need everything! pens, paper, books etc.

The students have previously raised 1000 SEK towards scholarship for Teresiah and Sarah. They have also raised additional 660 SEK towards LA Unica. This fundraising was done through two “kid-discos” in Halmstad, Sweden. This fall they will continue fundraising in different ways. Plans are to have a large jumble sale early after summer.
